Valuing Your Fire Doors - Why Is It Necessary?

In simple chemistry, in order for a fire to eventually grow, it needs three basic elements: Heat which is for ignition, Fuel and Oxygen which are both combustible materials. If these three are present and if you are not able to control the fire, you will end up facing the greatest challenge of your life- a loose fire or a fire out of control.

There are so many accounts in the world which showed us how devastating a fire can cause to both human lives and properties. One such account perhaps that the world cannot forget is what happened to the Pentagon on 9/11 wherein a hijacked plane was deliberately flown into the building causing the deaths of many people. One of the main killers of that day is not just the explosion but fires. After that incident, building owners and administrators made it a point to double up their fire safety-precautions. What they did was they added fire doors to their fire safety systems.

These days, with the presence of fire doors, the building itself will have its own built-in shield for at least certain period of time allowing everyone to evacuate safely until such time rescue arrives. This time threshold is called a fire door rating. Some doors have codes FD30, FD60, FD90 and even FD120 time limit. The numbers indicate the number of minutes that the door can withstand the flames. What this means is that the higher the fire door rating is, the better the chance of survival.

These doors are ideal in areas that have long corridors or hallways which eventually demands a longer time for people to escape from the area where the fire is. The thing is that these doors are not just ordinary doors. They are made from strong, durable materials and that they are coated with highly classified substances to make them fire proof for their given time frame. Before they are sold, they are first tested over and over again and after which, they pass through series of certifications to ensure that they live up to their reputation. This is also where there rating is determined. After they passed the test and certification, they are ready to be sold.

For buyers, they have to make sure that they buy their fire doors from reputable, licensed and registered stores.  This is to ensure that they get the best quality ones. Make sure that what you are buying is a genuine product that will be able to give you the fortification you need during a fire break out.

Fire doors are very essential and have proven to be very effective in saving lives over the years since it was first made and installed. So it is recommended that you take good care of this precious equipment and as give it its due maintenance regularly. Keep them in good condition so that you will feel safer every time you go to work. Fire doors are important so give due value to it.
